NZ Enduro - Update from the Commissioner

Back to News

The COVID-19 crisis has taken its toll on all of us and will have ongoing repercussions in every aspect of our lives for some time. All sport is being affected and as we were all expecting the ISDE will not be run this year.  The FIM has postponed the 95th running of the ISDE in Italy until 2021.

With a lot of preliminary work for the ISDE already completed we will now be able take full advantage of the extra year to build up for the 2021 event. A new ROI for the 2021 NZ ISDE Team selections will be issued in November this year.  All competitors who registered for selection for the NZ teams will automatically be included in the selection for 2021.

Once we have a clear picture of where NZ is heading through the COVID-19 crisis we will make our best endeavours to salvage a NZ Enduro Championship series for 2020.  We have some Central Enduro Series rounds still scheduled to run later in the year and the clubs have offered to run as championships and we will consider any options presented by other clubs willing to run a round in late 2020.

At this stage Martinborough and Santoft NZ Championship rounds on the 24th and 31st of May are still scheduled to go ahead,  however if the lock down continues beyond the four weeks as many are expecting, then these events will need to be cancelled or rescheduled.

I hope you are all staying well and following the rules so we can get through this crisis and back to normal ASAP.

Yours faithfully

Justin Stevenson

Enduro Commissioner
