FIM OCEANIA AND THE COVID-19 OUTBREAK

Back to News

FIM Oceania and the COVID-19 outbreak.

Date March 17th, 2020

To our motorcycling community and FIM Family,

We are currently living in very difficult times, with the challenges to our sport from COVID-19 being hard to predict and affecting our sports day-to-day plans on a worldwide scale.

FIM Oceania (FIMO) is maintaining close contact with the Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), our fellow FIM Continental Unions (CONU’s) and the FIM Federations across the globe – including FIMO member nations of Motorcycling Australia and Motorcycling New Zealand and we remain ready to support where possible.

No doubt you will be well aware that many nations have taken a firm approach to this matter. With travel restrictions, quarantine restrictions and the limiting of gatherings of large numbers of people at events, obviously these directives have a huge effect on our sport and the ability to hold events.

We want to assure you that FIM Oceania supports 100% all decisions made by the Australian and New Zealand Federations in response to their government’s latest regulations to combat COVID-19.

FIM Oceania is monitoring the evolving situation closely and will take all measures possible to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the motorcycling community and the race fans. These decisions have unfortunately included the need to postpone some upcoming FIM Oceania events. The FIM Oceania Board of Directors take this opportunity to apologies to anyone affect by these necessary date changes.

We hope that you and your families remain safe and healthy, we look forward to the activities returning to normal as soon as possible.

Yours in Motorcycling,

Mr. Glen Williams

President
