Sports Tribunal - Outcome

Back to News

MNZ has received the Sports Tribunal decision in relation to the outcome of the 2017 NZSBK Championship.

Key points were:
·   Mr Tony Rees and Mr Mitchell Rees were entitled to appeal the Stewards decisions to the Judiciary Committee.
·  Part of the MNZ Judicial process was unfair to Mr Sloan Frost and so the Judiciary Committee decision was set aside.
· The result of the first part of Race 2 at Taupo is taken at the end of Lap 5.
· Half points should be awarded for each part of Race 3 at Hampton Downs.

This means that the winner of the 2017 NZSBK Championship (Superbike Class) is Mr Tony Rees.

Having received the decision MNZ will consider whether any rule changes are needed.
